History

In 2001 Rob Beaulieu formed Raisinhead in order to play improvisational music in a live setting. The band consists of former members of The Ominous Seapods, Harvest, The Deadbeats and Fat Albatross, to name a few. Rob was also a member of Loader, Soul Shock and Kim Buckley's recording and touring band for 3 years. Drawing from influences as diverse as The Band, Neil Young, Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones, The Grateful Dead, Frank Zappa, Little Feat, Jazz, Blues, R&B and Gospel music Raisinhead has created it's own organic musical stew with a flare of true Americana.

The band is built upon the monster rhythm section of Sean Sullivan (The Deadbeats, Loader, Tapestry, JBP) and Gary “G7” Nowik (Fat Albatross, Prey For Rain, Red Clay, Geo & The Komrades), the singing talents of Ted Grey (Harvest) as well as the swirling organ sounds of Brian Mangini (Ominous Seapods) and Rob Beaulieu.  Of course, we can’t forget the man behind the mix,  Jason Townley, aka ( hoon, Undertaper ).  Raisinhead is a three-singer band giving the audience a constantly changing vocal perspective tune by tune.  The diverse background, joy of performing and decades of experience of the members is what gives the band its high energy sound that is unique and fresh every night.  Raisinhead has built a strong following in Upstate NY and the Northeast that promises audiences an interactive evening of sound, energy and pure fun.  Raisinhead is at its best on stage, under the lights doing their thing and creating an “experience” that you won’t forget anytime soon.

Raisinhead is currently touring in support of it's first released original CD "Back To the Tracks" as well as there second CD “Evoking the Sun” and has a growing collection of live shows to share with their fans. Relix Magazine says the CD is "Sheer Delight. The songs are strong, the playing solid and inventive…the vocals are excellent". The album was called "a highly ambitious and impressively accomplished effort with strong songs and superb performances" by Michael Hochanadel of The Daily Gazette, Albany's second largest major paper and Mike McKinley of Livemusicbeth.com states: "Back To The Tracks" is lyrically comforting telling us a story we can all relate to, and musically diverse and sublime - a very refreshing sound." David Guistina of The Sounding Board states "Raisinhead reminds me of what Duke Ellington said 'If it sounds good it is good' … The sweet melodic jam sounds of Raisinhead make even the harshest music critics swoon. This band is a rare combination of talent and heart and understands how to interpret these great songs." Homegrownmusic.net which is not only an online store but works with 300 retail stores nationwide recently picked up "Back To The Tracks" for national distribution and the word is spreading about this unique American improvisational rock and roll band.

Raisinhead also maintains its own mailing list and website (www.Raisinhead.com ) and keeps its fans well informed of the tours, new music and happenings. Please Call Rob Beaulieu for bookings and any other questions concerning the band at 518-573-2432 or e-mail at loadergroove@aol.com.
